बप्पा रावल (राज्यकाल: 8वीं शताब्दी) राजस्थान के मेवाड़ राजवंश के संस्थापक और महान शासक थे। उनका असली नाम कालभोज था, लेकिन वे "बप्पा रावल" के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए।


जीवन परिचय


बप्पा रावल का जन्म गुहिल राजवंश में हुआ था, जो सूर्यवंशी राजपूतों की एक शाखा थी। कहा जाता है कि उन्होंने 728 ईस्वी में चित्तौड़गढ़ पर अधिकार कर लिया और मेवाड़ राज्य की स्थापना की।


उपलब्धियाँ


1. अरब आक्रमणकारियों से संघर्ष – बप्पा रावल ने अरब आक्रमणकारियों के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ी और राजस्थान एवं पश्चिमी भारत को सुरक्षित किया।



2. चित्तौड़गढ़ पर अधिकार – उन्होंने मौर्य शासकों से चित्तौड़गढ़ किला जीता और इसे मेवाड़ की राजधानी बनाया।



3. राजनीतिक विस्तार – उन्होंने अफगानिस्तान तक अपना प्रभाव फैलाया और कई राजाओं के साथ गठबंधन किया।



4. धार्मिक प्रवृत्ति – कहा जाता है कि वे शैव धर्म के अनुयायी थे और जीवन के अंतिम वर्षों में सन्यास ले लिया था।




परिवार और उत्तराधिकारी


बप्पा रावल के वंशजों ने मेवाड़ पर कई पीढ़ियों तक शासन किया, जिनमें प्रसिद्ध महाराणा प्रताप भी शामिल थे।

Early Life


Bappa Rawal was born into the Guhil dynasty, a branch of the Suryavanshi Rajputs. It is believed that in 728 CE, he conquered Chittorgarh and established the Mewar kingdom.


Achievements


1. Resisting Arab Invaders – Bappa Rawal fought against Arab invaders and protected Rajasthan and western India.



2. Capture of Chittorgarh – He defeated the Mauryan rulers and made Chittorgarh the capital of Mewar.



3. Political Expansion – His influence is said to have extended up to Afghanistan, and he formed alliances with several rulers.



4. Religious Inclination – He was a devout follower of Shaivism and reportedly took renunciation in his later years.




Family and Legacy


Bappa Rawal’s descendants ruled Mewar for many generations, including the great Maharana Pratap.
