Chandragupta mourya

 Chandragupta Maurya (c. 321–297 BCE) was the founder of the Maurya Empire, the first great empire in Indian history. He united most of the Indian subcontinent under his rule and laid the foundation for a strong and centralized administration.

1. Founder of the Maurya Empire – He established the empire after overthrowing the Nanda dynasty with the help of Chanakya, his advisor and mentor.



2. Defeated Alexander’s Generals – After Alexander the Great’s invasion, Chandragupta defeated the Greek rulers in northwest India and expanded his empire.



3. Unified Most of India – His empire stretched from present-day Afghanistan to Bengal and from the Himalayas to the Deccan Plateau.



4. Governance & Administration – Under the guidance of Chanakya, Chandragupta established an efficient administrative system and followed principles from the famous book Arthashastra.



5. Conversion to Jainism – Later in life, he embraced Jainism and abdicated the throne in favor of his son Bindusara. He spent his final years as an ascetic in Shravanabelagola, Karnataka.




Chandragupta’s rule set the stage for the golden era of Indian history, which continued under his grandson Ashoka the Great.
